As dog walkers we see alot of different types of dog food from raw, kibble and tins of meat being fed to the dogs we walk.
When we got Snoop our first Springer Spaniel we were none the wiser and started feeding her Bakers dog food (yep we really did start as bad as it can get). However we soon realised there were issues feeding Snoop this with sloppy poos the main issue. It was then we started looking into a better quality dog food because after all your dog is a member of the family and deserves to eat better. After some research through various sites and Facebook groups alot of people kept saying 'Raw is best'. Maybe it is but the way we saw it is we didn't have the storage facilities for this and we also spend alot of time going out on long walks where we wouldn't want to risk taking raw meat with us, plus it's awkward when you go away on holiday. So we decided we were going to stick to kibble and it was time to find something that was not only a good quality but also a reasonable price. We then came across a fantastic website called www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/ and we were amazed at the amount of detail looked into dog food. So out of curiosity I wanted to read and see how bad Bakers dog food was and something that made me laugh was reading 'It would be like feeding your child Mcdonalds every day'. See here for yourself how bad it is. We then got thinking that maybe vets know about a good quality food so maybe its worth talking to them. Upon visiting our vets we saw they sell a very well known brand of dog food so went to the All About Dog Food website and took a look into it, which was a shock to say the least. Not only was it very expensive but the rating of it was pretty average so it was time to start spending some time looking into it ourselves. Eventually we found a decent food and over the years we have changed over a few different brands of kibble and are now happy Snoop and Poppy are getting a decent quality food with a price we are happy with. We all love our pets and would do anything for them however we believe the type of food being fed to alot of dogs really needs looking into more. If you are concerned or even a little interested I can highly recommend spending some time having a look at the www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/ website.
